About Me

Terry Frederick is a self-taught artist and creative force, known for his multi-dimensional work that captures the beauty and grandeur of nature. Born in San Francisco and raised in the tranquil setting of Lakewood, Washington, Frederick developed a deep connection to the outdoors at a young age. His childhood was spent fishing, swimming, and exploring the natural world, which would go on to inspire much of his artwork.

Discovering his passion for art at the age of nine, Frederick faced discouragement from a teacher but was determined to follow his creative calling. Despite obtaining degrees in electronics and business, Frederick's true education came from his personal exploration of art, honing his skills through trial, error, and intuitive flair.

After retiring, Frederick was able to fully dedicate himself to his art, focusing on capturing the diverse offerings of the outdoors in his work. His pieces range from elegantly rendered seascapes to intricately detailed animals, all inspired by his deep love for nature.

Frederick's artistic process mirrors his connection to nature – organic and harmonious. He meticulously paints and carves lifelike depictions of birds, deriving immense satisfaction from the tactile experience.

His main influences, rooted in nature and God's creations, have led him to display his work in institutions that align with his principles, such as the Schack Art Center in Everett, WA. His work has gained recognition for its detail and lifelike portrayal of nature, and enthusiasts marvel at the wonderful details that go into his creations.

Beyond his art, Frederick loves to indulge in outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and hunting, which continually fuel his artistic inspiration. As his art career progresses, he continues to explore the depth of nature's grandeur through his art, reinforcing the importance of art in society. As Terry Frederick sees it, without art, the world would indeed be a dull place.

There are some limitations; First and foremost does the project fall within the type of art I actually do; just because I or any artist has artistic talent doesn't mean I am able to create every type of subject. Time is also a factor; sometimes I simply do not have the time to fulfill a commission due to pre existing obligations, or the proposed project limited time frame. Lastly I reserve the right to refuse all commissions should the request, due to it's content or intended usage, be unreasonable.
